Sponsors

What is a sponsor? A sponsor is an admirable catholic role in a candidates life. They participate in the Confirmation ceremony and guide the candidates in the faith path.

Qualifications of a Sponsor:

1. Be a Catholic who is at least 16 years old and HAS RECEIVED the Sacrament of Confirmation 2. Be a person who leads "a life of faith in keeping with the function to be taken on" (Code of Canon Law 874) and able to receive the Eucharist at the Rite of Confirmation 3. A sponsor can NOT be a parent of the candidate

Primary Roles of a Sponsor

1. Assist the candidate in preparing for the Confirmation Sacrament 2. To present the candidate for the Confirmation Sacrament 3. Along with the parents, to help the Confirmed person live out his or her Christian life faithfully. The role of a sponsor is a life long commitment to walk with the confirmandee throughout their faith journey
